Krktour
The island of Krk is the second largest island of the Adriatic and also the cradle of Croatian literacy and culture. Settled from pre-history it notes the presence of the Liburnians, Greeks, Romans and Croats.
The oldest written document carved in stone in Glagolithic Croatian language is found on the island of Krk. Places well worth visiting are the franciscan monastery on the small islet of Košljun is – it holds an exceptionally valuable library over 30 000 volumes, the towns of Krk and Vrbnik, the wine country known for the Vrbnik Žlahtina. With a glass of wine we recommend some ham dried on bura wind.
